One major consideration in photography is in the aspect of lighting. There has been too much emphasis on equipments with regards to taking photos. Or there is a lot of information going on with regards to other techniques for taking wonderful pictures. But nothing is as important as knowing how the light affects the quality of the photographs you take. So in this article we are going to examine how the quality of light can make or break your photos.
To begin with there is lighting known as hard light. This is where the light is coming from a bright and sunny day. What happens when there is this type of lighting is it can produce very bright spots on the photos. Or it can create very dark portions on the photos. This is very important when talking photos like weddings. Because very bad lighting can ruin a lot of really good photos. Understanding this has helped me in my San Diego photographer service.
Next there is a type of lighting that they call soft light. This can usually be seen during cloudy days wherein lights are usually smooth and there are only some shadows. You can use this type of lighting to your advantage because they can produce fantastic photos. The main reason for this is because it allows the many colors to come out vividly on film. This works very well for commercial type of photos similar to the clients I have worked for in my San Diego corporate photographer service.
Finally, you can take advantage of artificial lighting to shoot your photos. Some types of this lighting are the lights normally used when shooting in a photo studio. This is good for those family portraits you take because you can control how the picture relates to your lighting. This has served my well in my event photography San Diego service.
As you have read, the role of lighting in photography can either enhance or ruin your picture. If you understand and utilize it to your advantage, without a doubt you will produce quality photos.
