All this fuss about My Shopping Genie, i just didn’t see it coming, the best opportunity’s are the ones that are so simple, everybody is already doing it and, best of all you can save people time and money. Who doesn’t want to save time and money?
The world of Network Marketing, love it or hate it, is here to stay, millions are joining, learning the concepts, and then go about finding the right opportunity for them. The vast majority won’t make it work, for a variety of reasons, however, timing, the market and the right business has delivered hugely successful network marketers across the globe. The difference between those that succeed and those that fail would be far too broad a concept for this single article, however safe to know that many have succeeded in their chosen opportunity.
The hype sounds great and before you know it you are ‘in’, a small investment and high expectations are followed by a slow sinking of your spirits as you realise the work, effort and time involved. Becoming a successful distributor in the very first opportunity you join is NOT the average position for the majority of network marketers, in fact most will join, on average 5 opportunities before they find the right one at the right time!
I don’t suppose your surprised, probably because your in your 4th network already?. That reminds me of a story where a very successful networker was approached by a networker who was feeling burned out with his business, and looking for a change. Truthfully and unusually frankly the successful distributor coughed up his real feelings, young man, he continued my opportunity has plateaued and now is NOT the time to join this particular business. His business had seen tremendous growth several years earlier and was now in the mature stage. He went on to take the young man’s details and promised to contact him again when he found another opportunity that was in the growth phase.
What a refreshing change to hear a distributor being completely truthful about the state of the game!. All business goes through cycle’s, ups and downs, peaks and troughs, this is just business. So timing, although not everything is important right?, you did not know when you joined but now you do, would you join again today knowing what you know now.
Jumping ship isn’t failure, its the opposite, when the right opportunity comes along at the right time and your in the right place with the right skills, not jumping ship and taking advantage would be madness!. And here, let’s be brutally honest, is the next huge issue!.
Starting out in your primary opportunity ( if you only have one thats ok ) you have invested countless hours developing a team, attended all the training events and maybe even become a celebrity within your opportunity. Unfortunately many companies, upon reaching a certain position within the pay plan, will hold you to ransom, and prevent you from using your skills to promote other opportunity’s, if that’s the case their could be trouble ahead.
The leaky bucket is getting worse as new distributors join, fail and leave, accepting your fate that if your numbers remain static, or experience overa ll slight growth its a good month. Secretly you harbour the thoughts of jumping to a new exciting opportunity but, and here’s the biggie, walking away from a big cheque is extremely hard to do!.
And Secondly, how many of your ‘team’ will come with you??, who in your team of distributors would be willing to follow you and not the company line?. It’s a tough call, deciding between the exciting new and potentially much more lucrative opportunity, or sticking to the opportunity you have engineered over time, delivering consistent (but not very exciting ) cheques and bonuses. And hey, lets not forget the ” what would people think of me” situation.
In conclusion, appealing to your ethics and honesty, if like My Shopping Genie, your current business opportunity is awesome, growing rapidly, in both product sales and numbers of distributors, then stay where you are, sounds like your already in the right business at the right time! If however your continually fighting to retain your members, your product is out of date, increasingly becoming redundant, or the numbers are just not adding up then it’s time to be honest and like the successful distributor earlier let your team know, let your prospects know, The State Of The Game. It’s your duty……Do you agree?
