How safe is it to use a midwife while giving birth

One of the most notoriously misunderstood professions in the world is midwifery. Sure they aren’t as common as they used to be but there are still some around. If you are not knowledgeable about this profession they are the ones who assist expectant mothers.  Usually not a nurse or a doctor it has been asked whether or not it is safe to use a midwife.Because most midwives perform birthing at the homes of the mothers. In this article we are going to look at some things to determine if midwifery is safe to undergo or not.

Midiwives usually help mothers go through birthing without the use of drugs.  At least that is my experience running a San Diego midwife service. And the delivery of the babies are usually done at homes of the expectant mothers. That would be the reasons why most people are sceptical about its safety. What they perceive as a safe way of delivering a baby is through the use of drugs. But that is not true all the time.

In fact what most people don’t realize is that the drugs they take actually slow down the pregnancy and can cause complications.Midwives do not use the aid of drugs while helping the mothers give birth that is why the delivery would be faster and recovery of the mother would be faster also.  That has been the case so many times in my midwives San Diego service. Most mothers who went natural experienced faster recovery.

But natural homebirths are usually only recommended for women who are healthy enough to undergo it.  In other words if the woman has a history of medical problems or birthing problems I won’t take them.  Generally the women I do assist in my certified midwives San Diego practice are women who have had no history of complications.Once I learn that the mother has medical problems then I would tell them to deliver the baby in the hospital instead.

Hopefully people would realize that there are many precautions before a mother can be allowed to undergo home birthing assissted by midwives. That is why homebirthing always result to a wonderful and healthy family.
